Outside Source - German Elections Special, live from Berlin, 27th Sept 2021
Переглядів 7422 роки тому
This is me directing the last few minutes of the Outside Source special from Berlin, covering the German Elections. You can hear the director in London, who is outputting the programme and directing Kasia Madera. His talkback is going directly into Ros Atkins’ earpiece. Meanwhile I am directing the local crews, two camera operators and technicians dealing with sound and lights on the balcony. I...

ICU liberty Singers, BBC News Channel interview
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
A 100 strong Zoom choir made up of ICU staff is releasing a re-make of classic Police track ‘Every Breath You Take’ in a bid to secure the Christmas number one spot and raise funds to support NHS staff recovery from the trials of 2020. Known as the ICU Liberty Singers, the choir began life as an attempt to bring some fun and respite to ICU workers after the toughest year in history. (c) BBC New...
New and unusual empty stock movements at Moreton in Marsh railway station
Переглядів 2883 роки тому
In summer 2020 I noticed that at around 6pm a terminating service from Didcot has to use the (until now VERY rarely used) down siding to let a Great Malvern service through. The unit then moves back into the down platform to form an up train to Oxford. Most unusual but it would seem, timetabled Monday to Friday at the moment. I can’t remember this siding being used at all for years!

Thanks for posting! Great interview...as always. The future is Goo...like that one. Sorry I never got to see the band live. If they ever get together again and tour the USA will have to go (seems unlikely, but never say never). ❤☮🌎

5:47 U-Matic wasn't really a broadcast format, even in its High Band form. But it was used as such even so, being just about good enough.
Very interesting David! How many people are you directing in this to cue up all the various clips, graphics and the like. It's not just you I hope?!
It’s all automated. The ‘directing’ is really just said aloud for everyone to know what I’m planning to have happen. There is someone sitting at the sound desk to supervise and tweak levels and technical quality, and someone at lighting to tweak balance. But there are no camera operators, no graphics operators and no one loading up and playing out the clips!
@@deejayC Thank you for answering. I just had similar question on my mind. :)
Fascinating seeing it from the directors point of view thank you for some illumination.
Thank you very much for uploading this video! Do you remember what date and time was this bulletin on air?
Thank you for this great video. As a fan of TV directorial work and the technical aspects of the broadcast industry in general, I find content like this very interesting. Therefore, I've subscribed to your channel :) Thank you very much!
Recognise pres engineer Darren at start of clip.
I like how you control the BBC TV Studio

I love to see these guys together again 🎉😅
Unwatchable. Not interested in watching something shot through a vertical slot. FFS, supposedly you're a professional - hold the camera properly.
The reason "Hey Jude" "goes on a bit," is because at that time, Richard Harris's vocal version of "MacArthur Park" was the longest-ever single, clocking in at 7:21. Paul, being always a competitive bloke, insisted that "Hey Jude" had to be over seven minutes as well. It clocked in at 7:11. "Legs" Larry was also a drinking companion of Keith Moon. Only a small handful of people were able to keep up with Moonie, Larry being one of them.
Crt? Why
cause its a video from 2012 and a control room from earlier
So interesting. You would never think its someone in a little dark room doing this. So basically at the end of the national broadcast stuff you cut to bbc 1 in… bit and then back to the main feed from london for head lines then back to the local news for their headlines then back to the national feed for the main news
Possibly a dumb question but is the rightmost monitor on the desk a schedule using Teletext?
Probably, not. This was on the 27 Oct 2012, way after Ceefax ended.
👌

The Tories have gone completely mental with unitary authorities!
Too bad they didn’t continue on after this. I think they still had another full album in them. Limahl still sounds fantastic in 2023…maybe even better than he did in the old days. And Nick Beggs is still a bass hero to many of us …
David, have you killed off a few videos or is UA-cam being weird for me? I had some in a playlist that I think are gone now.
I’ve definitely got my sausages out.
"Hello, good evening. It's time to get your sausages out." 🤣
60s, 70s, 80s, 90s etc. Britain is insanely talented musically. So many "original" works. They influenced and evolved music more than any other country in my opinion.
I totally agree! Britain has the big brain. The music is also sceptical.
There were only 3 TV channels then in the UK, Ummm Limahl CH4 came out in late 1982. Also back then UK started to get Sky Channels as well so here were more channels than just 3 lol + yeah when Limahl went, wasn't over as the other 4 still had other hit singles + the hit album: Islands! And there next album after that: Crazy Peoples Right to Speak flopped in all countries it was released in and the singles!
Nick said in a interview that they can't make the band work without our lamhal.we are throwing in the towel
So the bit just before the news where it displays the one logo and then someone says who will present the news, the one that only says who will present the uk wide news and not both the uk wide and who will present the regions news is used in london right So is this gallery also just controlling the bbc london news
If you're talking about the BBC One ident (also called the "symbol"), that is obviously played from BBC One playout. And there is still a main "network" version, but I'm really not sure if London uses that one or its own regional one, because with the 2021 rebrand, BBC one removed the regional indicators from the English regions idents, so it's basically the same as network but with a different announcement.
This was a goo'd interview...
title says 1993 but description says 1994
sod that
because bbc london news is now presented from the same studio as bbc news at 6 and 10 does that mean that the gallery responsbile for bbc london news is the same as the bbc 1 news
Interesting question. I don’t know the answer. But I believe any gallery can control any studio in the building, so it could be a different gallery.
Where are all the nations and regions news studios and gallery's located? Is it all in London?
no - each region’s gallery and studio is located in the region it serves.
@@deejayC Ah makes sense
Some of the buildings used to house pumps are still there, and in diffrent uses.. A lot can be viewed from the Hythe & Dymchurch railway in Kent.
From here in the States we say BRAVO! What an excellent educational video you have provided and it really would be appropriate to show the youth as it shows the spirit and cleverness of the UK! Thanks so much for sharing and the very best of luck!
